Product Description

Product Description
Young widow Jan Hardy is a successful racehorse trainer, an independent, determined woman working alone in a predominantly male world. After the death of her husband, her priority has been to provide for her two young children. But the world of horseracing is often rife with treachery and corruption. Betrayed by a family of owners, Jan finds herself in a desperate situation. And so when Gary West, an Australian billionaire, asks her to find and train eight premium National Hunt horses - it seems too good to be true. But just as things are looking up for Jan, Gary's massive, multi-faceted business empire is running into trouble, and he is becoming increasingly elusive. In the midst of this compelling tale is the story of a woman's yearning for emotional support and a chance to secure stability for her family. Eddie Sullivan, it seems, might be the man she needs, but he too has a past to deal with and Jan must face perhaps the most painful dilemma of her life.

About the Author
Jenny Pitman grew up on a Leicestershire farm run by her parents and is well known throughout the equine world as the first woman of racing. She has achieved success in the world's toughest races and has landed two Grand Nationals. In 1984 she became the first woman to train a Cheltenham Gold Cup winner. Jenny has also trained the winners of the Scottish, Welsh and Irish Grand Nationals. This is her third novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down!!, 4 Mar 2005
Jenny Pitman has a very attractive writng style which allows you to enjoy the story unfolding. Having enjoyed her other books ths was no dissapointment and I can't wait to read the next. I particularly enjoy the lead characters in depth knowledge of horses which is obviously a reflection on the authors own profession.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book but...., 25 Jul 2004
Great book and I have been suitably impressed with this series, it has taken me a long while to find a set of books which I have enjoyed so much. Perhaps its because I'm quite in to horses and enjoy reading an adult book, I feel is aimed at women, that doesn't have sex on EVERY page (a bit of romantic writing, as used here, is great but I don't need it shoved down my throat thanks!), instead it is witty, gripping, romantic, emotional and I just couldn't put it down, it is easy to identify with Jan whether in her struggle to succeed at what she wants to do or in her love life.

However I was frustrated at the way this book ended, although I can see why the author has done this, rest assured I will follow the next book straight over the finish line..: )
