Glen Johnson's book covers every possible aspect of wedding photography: Equipment, Planning, Must-take shots, How to charge and What to pack if you're off somewhere exotic (Watch out for diarrhoea!). The trouble for me, a reasonably competent amateur, was that there was too much I knew already. I know that I need a wide angle lens if I'm shooting in a tight space. I know that aperture controls depth of field. I understand the 'rule of thirds'. These are basics which relate to all aspects of photography - not just weddings. I hoped for more insight into how to take my wedding photography to a higher level but instead found myself looking at a diagram showing where to stand when the cake is being cut - in front of the other guests and slightly to the left. Really? A good reference for someone new to photography and shooting their first wedding, but it wasn't for me. Crucially, I found most of the images in the book to be good, but not great.
