Having chosen video compression for my dissertation title, i bought this book after reading the reviews that other people had made. But i found this book to be complicated and hard to understand and did not give a clear explanation for the terms. As a beginner to video compression technology i was looking for explanations of compression techniques, Intra and Inter and the latest compression standards. This is not a book that can be easily referenced when you need some information concerning the topic and you may have to read and understand the book before this can be achieved.

I found this book to be a great tool for teaching 18 year-olds the fundamentals of digital video and audio compression. It was pungent but erudite without being salacious.
