I bought these watches from the Watchesbytimepiece company through Amazon - it was my first purchase and experience with Amazon - and full satisfaction. Excellent price, fast (international) delivery (well before the deadline), nice packaging. And watches exceeded my expectations. I was afraid that they would be too big (not comfortable to wear) and too complicated (too many functions). But they are quite flat and due to special extensions on the bottom they fit nicely to wrist. Their functions can be very intuitively controlled. The manual seems really huge/impressive/scaring - but soon I found that many functions I was able to control by just trying without need to read it in manual. Functions seem to work well - tried already altimeter in Alps, compass in laboratory using magnetic fields, thermometer ... . Full satisfaction.

This watch had been on my radar for a while. I don't often have almost £200 to put away on watches, but when I do, I buy watches. A little bit of history, I have loved Pro-Treks since I did my Duke of Edinburghs award - I bought one to try it out in Morocco and it was awesome. The watch I had back then was like a tank on my wrist and got comments that it was so big. Don't get me wrong this watch is big on small wrists but i have a big wrist and there is double wrist buffers built into the watch that move with the strap adjustment; so don't not buy it if you have smaller wrists.

So here's the review of this next generation Pro-Trek watch. I have compiled a list of pros and cons below that I wish I had when I was choosing my watch. I feel these are deal breakers so you can decide to pay £150+ for a new watch. The watch is 'Tough Solar' this doesn't mean it has G-Shock levels of protection, but this watch isn't designed to be knocked about - it's a precision instrument. The manual you get with the watch is well worth reading, as I learned so much about how this watch works. The mineral glass IS flush with the bezel so don't go getting it scratched up.

Two things you need to know about this watch before the pro's and cons, is that using the light sucks up battery! But it is solar powered and atomically timed so you have to balance that out. Here comes the pros and cons of this watch (and overall I should mention this watch is awesome).

- Compass - this is accurate to within 5 degrees - the manual says allow 20 degrees each way but I have tested the compass setting against a liquid bearing compass and my iPhone but it's spot on within 2-3 degrees normally.

This watch is simply amazing. It's a progression from previous models and is much slimmer than it's predecessors. The duplex screen works really well and the pointers for each function are a bonus.

Unlike previous models the crystal is flush - so you will probably need to take care to avoid the occasional scratch (I hope not). The Large figures of the display give a very clear read and could help those with poorer eye sight.

An ABC watch for every day use.

Of course the Atomic Synch and solar battery are brilliant- once you have it-you won't want to buy a Casio without either.

I looked for ages for a new compass watch to replace the previous one I'd had for 6 years & had been very useful while travelling (to places like China & Iceland) The Tissot looks much better but at this price & feature set Casio can't be beaten. It does everything well enough for me, is much slimmer than my last one & doesn't pinch my arm hairs like some reviewers say it does them. Am happy I chose this model.

Pros:

Light weight
Comfortable
Thin
Accurate (mine is +1sec/month without syncing)
Functional - does more than any other watch I've seen (Solar, atomic, ABC, A-EL plus the usual world time, CDT, SW etc.)
Tough, not a G-Shock but very solidly made, high quality design and build
Classy, can wear anywhere
Accepts any 22mm band unlike most other Casios.
No battery changes needed

Cons:

Silver bezel reflects in strong sunlight
Stock strap not the best. Any 22mm strap will fit though
Auto EL drains battery fast and only shows for 3 sec - would prefer it to last 5 sec and be on an optional timer, say A-EL for 3 hours
Alarm very quiet, no vibration
Compass only works for 20 sec
Baro only measures every 2 hours for the graph
No Alti lock

Verdict:

I looked at a ton of watches but haven't regretted this purchase 1 bit. Have kept looking but haven't seen any alternative that suits me better, I don't think a better watch is made at any price (for the features and style that what I want).

Bought this about four weeks ago from TICATIME and can't fault it. Large display, light weight and good looks. I also got it at a great price so I'm very happy. It has more functions than I'll ever use, but I like this sort of watch and the compass seems very accurate. The other thing I like is that it always tells the correct time as it updates itself automatically at about 2am every morning. I like Casio watches and had my eye on this and similar Casio models for a while. If your interested I would say buy it, but keep checking because the price can suddenly drop for a day or so for no apparent reason and I think we all like a bargain.
