This is a very good all-around beginning book about digital photography, covering both the "digital" and the "photography" aspects. It's written by an experienced photographer who has written several books, and this book benefits from his experience. It's clear, and properly emphasises the importance of photography, not just the technical aspects. It's very well illustrated. It's not a detailed, in-depth book - but that means it's more accessible and a quick way to get an overview. It truly is a no-nonsense jargon free guide for beginners.

I bought this book as an introduction to digital photography for my wife, who is a complete beginner. The early chapters on the technology are rather dated as the book was published ten years ago and equipment has made huge advances in recent years. However, the later chapters on technique, composition etc. are all still valid. On balance an ok book for the complete learner.
