5.0 out of 5 stars xbox 360 smack talk 22 April 2010
By A. Hart
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The smack talk unit is strong and attaches to the controller via a jack plug and a very strong elastic band that wraps around the battery pack to keep it nice and snug, the smack talk unit itself is well made in the same style as the controller it blends in with it nicley and it's easy to use you simply push a couple buttons in sequence to activate the record function then you have 5 sec worth of time (x5 for the other buttons), just make sure you find clear and loud sound samples to record or you could even do them yourself by playing a movie and recording at the right time.

The only problem i came across was if you have the volume up to the highest level it give's off a bit of interference on the other end of your friends/teams headphones, but this was resolved by turning it down a bit and getting better quality sound samples that didn't need to be turned up so high for other people to hear them properly.

I don't know how long the batterys last as i have only had mine for a month so far and they haven't ran out yet so all is good on that front i suppose.

Overall i would rate this product highly 5/5

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent 28 Aug. 2010

Works how it should. The tech is a springboard for helping you say stuff with great timing for big impact. Unless you put rubbish in, then it will sound rubbish

5.0 out of 5 stars Records voice clips, and so much more! 31 Mar. 2013
By Sky - Published on Amazon.com
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I originally bought one of these just to mess with my friends over Xbox Live, as anybody else would, and it fulfilled that completely. However, it wasn't until I spent some time tinkering around with it that I learned that the Smack Talk comes with more that just recording five-second voice clips.

Before I delve in, I noticed that many people gave this product negative reviews because they were able to hear their recordings, but nobody else could. After messing around with the Smack Talk, I learned that, for example, if you record a quote into it from your computer, you should set your computer's volume to maximum. That should make it so others can hear it just fine, unless the quote or music itself is too quiet.

Anyways, now I'll explain the Smack Talk's awesome, hidden feature. The best way to explain this is through an example. SO, for example, say you're gonna record a five-second section of a funny quote. You would load the quote on your computer, plug the stereo cord into your Smack Talk, and record it.

This is where the magic happens. If you let the quote play while your in-game (not pressing the record button or any of the numbered buttons), the quote will play through your mic without you having to press record or be limited to a five-second cap. This can lead to some really funny moments with other players, and I can say it's definitely worth it. Combine this with a capture card and you can make some hilarious videos!

Also, a word of advice, your mic will not work if the stereo cord is plugged in.

The gameDR Smack Talk is an awesome little device that surprised me with how many features that WEREN'T listed, and at $13, it is a great deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY FUN AND FUNNY FOR ONLINE GAMERS 12 Oct. 2011

THIS IS SO COOL. IT HAS 5 SOUNDS BUILT IN AND YOU CAN EVEN RECORD YOUR OWN SOUNDS IF YOU WANT.
-i only gave 4 stars because it was a little hard to figure out how to record your own sounds.
-also, you can't hear any sounds until it is plugged into your xbox.
---so don't freak out when you press the button and hear nothing
-also there is no power light
---when you switch it on it is on
---there is just no power light

If you play a lot of online games and get annoyed by how some people talk then his product is perfect for you.

It was fun but the device added some size to the controller which was a little inconvenient but considering everything, it isn't so bad. It allows you to record five 5-second long audio clips and the recording is easy. Also it seems you can broadcast music or sound through your controller by leaving it hooked in through the recording wire to a computer or MP3. It takes 3 triple A batteries and it will shut off if unused to preserve the batteries. The headset link used to record is very short and the preset sounds suck. However, I found it fun to play funny sounds over the Xbox 360 and since it was cheap I think it was worth the money.

I like it because it actually says thing and I love how it already has pre recorded things on it and I also like how you can record anything you want… I used it to play a trick on someone in call of duty I recorded somethings off vine and played it onto the game and people kept getting really mad because what I recorded was really annoying

This thing is a blast to goof around with. The sound quality on the presets is great, but does go down a bit when you upload your own clips. Maybe it is the cable or something. Either way, I have a blast using my Warhammer Space Marine quotes for call out during Battlefield and CoD game haha!
