I wasn't sure whether this product was going to help me given the wide variety of reviews but I took a chance. One of the discs of a rather expensive box set was "resurfaced" thanks to my baby boy. It didn't play in any DVD player. Before I opt for a homemade method I gave SkipDr a spin. It took three treatments but the disc is back to life with no indication there was ever a problem. The scoring on the surface of the DVD which is mentioned in other reviews is not at all as bad as I thought it would be. Follow the instructions carefully and I'm sure Skip Doctor will work for you.

This repaired some VERY badly damaged DVDs. It left the discs looking much better than discs I've tried fixing with other repair creams, but unlike those other systems this actually got them playing again.

My experience has been using this on PS2 game discs. DO NOT USE ON PS3. This is what is said in the product packaging but I do not see it here, so be warned. On the PS2 discs that had numerous light scratches on them, I wanted to smooth them out so they would play smoother and load quicker, and look more presentable. Originally I was doing this with BRASSO liquid metal polish, which works great, but wanted something faster. This product leaves lots of lines from the middle to the edge of the disc rendering my games that did play UNPLAYABLE.

I have no idea if it operates differently on different types of discs, but considering the state it left on a few PS2 games I had used it on (both with plenty of the spray used) I wouldn't want to know!

I followed the manufacturers instructions to the letter; having first made sure the disc was clean, now the disc in question will not even play the opening credits, the original fault being merely a stutter 3/4 of the way through the film. The DVD player stops after a few attempts and then shows the message that the disc is dirty! Pity there isn't a rating of no stars. Can't return it as a friend brought it to Crete where I live and it is now over 30 days since dispatch.

The product is reasonably well made and professional looking and comes well packaged. However, it does not repair moderately to highly scratched CDs and appears to have an effect similar to that of a couple of minutes polishing with a cloth and some Brasso 150ml, metal polish. If you do decide to use the Brasso option made sure to polish radially - centre to edge and back in a straight line - rather than in circles.

I've tried a number of different solutions when it comes to repairing DVDs (including manually polishing with Brasso and similar hand-cranked tools that polish in a circular motion rather than radially) and I've had the best results with the SkipDr. It hasn't been able to fix every disc I've tried but it has helped me with a most scratched discs that were previously unreadable, and it's much quicker and less messy than manual polishing attempts.

The device's wheel polishes from the centre of the disc outward. This leaves radial marks on the surface of the disc (it will not look "like new", and if the original scratch was restricted to a small part of the disc it will probably look worse than it did before being run through the SkipDr). However, DVD players will typically cope with this sort of mark much better than they will with a circumferential scratch that is aligned with the data track, and the SkipDr does a good job of smoothing out those scratches. It may however take a few cycles to repair deeper scratches, and very deep scratches may be beyond the SkipDr's capabilities - a recent second-hand purchase had two deep circumferential scratches (presumably scratched by the previous owner's DVD player's disc tray or similar) and it took eight full cycles through the SkipDr to render it 100% readable but it was still significantly less hassle than having to return the disc to the shop.

If you have a DVD collection and buy discs from those who may not take particularly good care of their discs then the SkipDr is worth having as a quick and convenient tool to try to fix discs.

I bought this to try and repair an old xbox game, it didn't fix it, but it is not why I am giving a bad review, it's just the quality of this is so bad, it has some sort of sanding paper on the wheel that is supposed to resurface the disc, but I can still see the light scratches that the disc had before using this. plus some weird particles came from the inside of it , seems like glue leftovers or something.
you can also tell this products is bad from the accessories it comes with and how they describe it: their "rejuvenating fluid" is just water with a drop of alcohol, it comes with a flimsy tissue that seems almost like a paper towel, and an even flimsier "buffing square".
this might be able to repair some types of damage but it is not effective at removing scratches. you'd be better off going to some place like game and pay for them to resurface the disks.

Awful, took my disc from scratched but working to totally ruined. A complete scam, I advise you to just send your discs away to be resurfaced professionally. Waste of money.
