I bought this product, because i keep leaving my door open by accident. Frost free freezers that do not have alarm defrost so fast if you leave the door open. So this has resolved my problem
You can set the unit up as you wish, I have the alarm set to -11 degrees and you can hear the alarm very clearly. The wire to the sensor is very thin like a bell wire and this doesn't affect the seal of the freezer. Mine did come with a battery, but don't worry the battery's do not cost that much to replace.

As my Bosch freezer display was obviously lying (my ice-cream melted!) I bought this thermometer to supersede it. I checked its reading initially against a mercury one and it tallied. After a month's use It appears to be doing a good job, responding quickly to temperature changes. I use it on the flip-out stand and find it easy to read. A bonus was that a battery was included in the pack despite the offer saying otherwise. The main disadvantage, common to such thermometers, is that the cable has to pass the door seal. The cable is as thin as practicable and I passed the small sensor easily under the seal so that the mating surfaces are not obstructed then sealed the small resulting gap with white insulating tape. I would recommend this product.

Excellent. Firstly I checked accuracy with 3 other thermometers and found it to be well calibrated. It has enables me to turn down my new freezer down to a very low setting so as to maintain the -18 degree C recommendation. This in turn will pay for the thermometer in a short period od time.
Well worth the investment and would strongly recommend.
P.S. my daughter failed to realise that the lid was held open slightly by an inappropriately placed item. I was alerted by the audible siren and it prevented the frozen goods perishing.

How do you know if there has been a power cut while you were on holiday and your freezer contents thawed and refroze and are now full of lethal bacteria? This gadget is battery driven and stores a maximium and minimum temperature both inside and outside the freezer and also gives a continuous readout. The sensor is on a wire and has to snake past the freezer lid but this does not cause a problem; a magnet holds the display to the side of the freezer. It would be really nice if a gadget was available that sent the temperature recorded inside the freezer to your laptop via the internet.............

Our freezer broke down a few years ago and we didn't realise it till the food had gone off. We replaced the freezer and our idiot son ( the one with the PhD) unplugged it recently. Again the food went off. Once bitten twice shy: twice bitten really stupid so we got the alarm

The display measures 8cm x 5.2cm x 1.7cm.

The LCD digits are 1.6cm high and are back-lit when you press one of the four buttons

It's held in place by magnets, adhesive pads or screws and bracket or you can use a stand.

It's powered by a CR2032 cell which is supplied.

The probe is at the end of a very thin cable about 2m long. The probe is fitted to a suction pad which sticks well to smooth surfaces outside our freezer: inside the freezer, however, it does not stick but that isn't a problem.

By pressing a button you can toggle between ambient and freezer temperatures

Another button cycles from max to min to present temperature in the freezer or in the room. This can easily be reset.

The alarm can easily be set for max (I have it at -15degrees) or min (I have it at -37)

An essential little device, it works well. I definitely recommend it.

works great......just what i wanted. The alarm works a treat when the freezer is left open for too long. Great product for small businesses wanting to ensure large frozen food amount don't get spoilt.

This seems very good. As someone else said, it does come with a battery despite description. I bought this one as people have said that it is accurate. It has magnets to fix it to the side of the freezer and you can programme the max/min temperatures that you want it to alarm on. It is very quick to react to temperature changes so probably best to have the sensor somewhere in the middle of the freezer where opening the lid won't set the alarm off. I was surprised at the difference between the top of our chest freezer and the middle for temperature. One good thing is that you can tell if you are wasting electricity running the freezer too cold. Also, you can tell the temperature at anytime. You can have an alarm set in case of temperature rise due to power cut or freezer failure. Our chest freezer is in the garage. One tiny criticism, the alarm is not loud enough and we would only know we had a problem if we actually went into the garage as we wouldn't hear it in the house., Other than that, all good, the wire is very thin to go through the seal, display is reasonably big, has max/min record and you can reset the values. Good for the price, what we need now is someone to make a wireless sensor that we can see and hear in the house but for this price, can't really fault it.

Well made and easy to use. Only had a month but very good so far. Put your mind at rest if little hands leave the freezer open by accident.
