I've tried making videos with a bicycle helmet and a Flip Ultra. Using a little foam rubber between the helmet and the stand, I can strap down the base tightly. The plastic is flexy, Flips are elongated and don't have image stabilization, so videos shake even when things are not particularly rough. VirtualDub and the Deshake plugin do a surprisingly good job of mitigating the shake and rolling shutter jello, although with reduced quality and black edges. I like the design, hopefully it will be improved: a little metal here and there would help. A Flip standing on top of a helmet looks terrible; the Amazon pictures artfully minimize this (by placing it at the front of the helmet, extending the arm downward, and photographing the edge, not the face, of the Flip).
