4.0 out of 5 stars Very comprehensive guide. 14 Jan 2013
By S. Minchin VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
As someone looking to start up a website, this book has proved invaluable to someone with no experience in setting a site up. It goes from the basics of how to begin, right up to exit strategies at the other end. It does assume that the reader will do a certain amount of their own homework on specifics, but other than that it covers pretty much everything in a readable and informative manner. The only criticism I have is sometimes the language is too business jargon oriented for the complete novice, however it's nothing that a little googling won't solve and besides, if you're starting up a business some research is required anyway!

Highly recommended.

By M. D Roberts VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I found this workbook to be very well written, inspirational, informative and difficult to put down. It covers every conceivable aspect for anyone considering a digital business, and the major sections are self-explanatory;

Part 1. Starting up your own digital business - with specific minor sections devoted to providing advice on to how to "create and evolve your concept", "choosing your business model", "creating a business plan" and "how to fund your venture".

Part 2. Building your business - providing information/sections on how to build your website, your team and your own brand.

Part 3. Running and growing your business - dealing with "effective online marketing", how to measure/improve your marketing and ultimately "selling up" (selling, or passing on your business at the appropriate time, to the right buyer at the right price).

Having covered all these areas in considerable detail, while providing a wealth of knowledge and information based upon obvious experience, the workbook culminates in what is described as the "definitive online business success checklist". This is an essential factor by which the reader can easily measure if they have dealt with all the relevant sectors pertinent to their prospective enterprise.

While illustrating a number of appropriate examples, this workbook provides advice in what it calls the "journey of an idea", the "stepping stones" of dealing with your chosen business model, and the presentation to the customer/audience etc.. However, it soon becomes apparent that there is one factor missing from the study - that is the "idea" itself.

The "idea" is something that the individual themselves must provide, and something to which they must be prepared to devote the relevant energy. If only the "idea" could be provided for us, we would all be potential millionaires. But it is the "idea" that is clearly the factor which separates those who embark upon this journey, and those who just dream of doing so. If you can provide the "idea", this workbook will be of immense assistance to the individual as they embark upon their journey. It is that good.
