About the Author

3DTotal Publishing3DTotal was founded in 1999 as a simple 3D resource website. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the series 5 Sep 2013
By Parka HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER
Length: 1:26 Mins
This is another insightful volume for the Digital Art Masters series.

50 artists are included and each one walks you through the process on how they created their artwork. There are examples from different styles of art, such as 3D, landscape, concept art, character designs, etc. It's illuminating to see and read about how the work evolves at each step of the workflow. The artworks included as wonderful.

Siamak Roshani, winner for the Portrait (Rendered) category in EXPOSE 11, also has a tutorial here. Other notable pieces would be the one with angel and death playing cards over someone else's deathbed by Hu Zheng and the hyper realistic 3D render of Bruce Lee by Alexander Beim. There are several sci-fi themed pieces with robots, mechas, spaceships and aliens. It's very impressive showcase of work all around.

The book has 288 pages instead of the 320 that Amazon has listed wrongly.

Highly recommended to digital artists.

I really love these book, just seeing what is hot and developing within the industry it self is worth the cost. It is also a great way to pick up hints and tricks as well.

def comes in handy when coming up with inspiration as well for my personal projects and finding out your own style.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff!! 21 Sep 2013
By Jay
Books like this for me make an intriguing read. As a professional 3d modeller in the VFX industry you tend to work to certain `rules' and `regulations' because of the production environment and most of the time the finished article is the brainchild of someone else and not your own. My point is, that a book like this enables me to be inspired by artists working entirely on their own, and seeing how they breath life into their own creations from start to finish. This in turn has an effect that makes me want to achieve the same thing. It's good to see (and hopefully learn) different techniques shown across the board, yet all enable the artist to create a singular image that tells a story in one way or another. This book is by no means a tutorial book but as I said more of an inspiration, as individual artists are given the chance to show off their artwork and explain how they came to achieve the final image, showing small snippets of concept art, rough sketches, al l the way through to the final chosen colour palette. The work shown in the book is of a high standard, and if you are in need of inspiration for your own images then look no further.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent collection of fantastic art 30 Dec 2013

I always look to the Digital Art Masters series as a form of inspiration and encouragement. As a 3D artist myself, I think it's always good to challenge yourself. So when I look through a DAM book, I know I will always find wonderful art that I can enjoy and appreciate. While simultaneously finding inspiration and ways to push my own skills to a higher level. I highly recommend Volume 8 and all previous volumes of Digital Art Masters. I can always pull one of the volumes off the shelf and find new inspiration and enjoyment, no matter how old (or new) the volume is. Enjoy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book! 7 Nov 2013
By Jai - Published on Amazon.com
I can absolutely recommend this book! If you are simply interested in art, the images are fantastic, if you are or are looking to become a CG artist yourself the insight the artists give will be very educational or if you have any interest in CG art whatsoever you'll likely find this book fascinating and inspiring!
5.0 out of 5 stars Real Life Refrence Folder 10 Aug 2013
By DJ Hancock - Published on Amazon.com
I've said this about previous volumes of this book, this book is on the same level. It's like some one went into my reference folder, and printed out each image on glossy paper, then binded it all together into a book. Each page is filled with amazing art work, the pages that are not, have a brief break down explaining what's going on in or with the image. More than a few images have a break down on how the artist went about creating the image. That is something most reference folders don't have.

With that said, this book wins.
