5.0 out of 5 stars slight problem ............ 7 Sep 2012

In all fairness, the first of these which I received stopped responding to the remote within a week. I'd never used Amazon's 'returns' policy before, and I can only say that it was first class. Still don't know if the T.V. or remote was faulty, but 'Amazon' shipped a whole new pack to me on the day I got back from my holidays, and only then collected the original set.
I also bought a 'no fault, but returned to seller', 'Phillips' BDP7600 blu-ray player on 'e-bay' to go with it, and, while the 'Freeview' tuner in the T.V. gives very impressive results, after downloading a software upgrade to the player, I can only say that in both blu-ray and upscale modes, the results are stunning.
Add to this the HUGE number of inputs and outputs on the rear of the 'Digihome' and I really can't think why you would need to spend more.
My stereo system is 'Arcam', and my speakers are 'Mission', so I'm not a total ignoramus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bargain 5 Oct 2012

Spent some time looking at various tv's and decided to take a gamble on this one and pay the return costs if it wasn't up to scratch. However I must say that so far it's been perfect. Although I haven't yet connected it to an aerial socket i have played dvd's and my ps3 through the hdmi and the quality is easily as good as the 600 sony lcd my parents own. Easy to set up, looks very stylish and even has good sound, although the bass does struggle at full volume, however this is no different to the aforementioned sony due to the slim nature of the tv. The remote is a little unorthodox but that's picking at straws really and just highlights how good the tv is for the price. All that remains to be seen is how reliable it is.
Also the delivery was excellent, received it the day after with supersaver delivery

Having spent a week with this, i must say the freeview quality could be a little better, but otherwise fine

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic TV with a bargain price tag. 25 Nov 2012

I was a little skeptical to say the least about buying this TV, at 329 it's a steal... imagine my surprise when amazons black friday featured this TV and the price dropped to 229.
The Digihome LED42983FHD is a fantastic TV, the picture quality is outstanding. I had an LG lcd before this which I have put into the bedroom(for the wife) as the picture on this was alot brighter and sharper.
It was really easy to set up as you would expect in this day and age.

The remote does have a cheapy plasticy feel to it but on the other hand its very lightweight and I quite like the click of the buttons(little things aye).

It has for HDMI ports on it which is a god send in my house, the USB port is very good for photos and music but very hard to find the right format video to play.

The most disappointing part is the sound quality, as a movie lover I like to feel abit of bass which this TV doesn't deliver, Ive messed about this the equalizer but have not found a good combination yet.

If it wasnt for the sound quality I would have easily gave this 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Was ok at first. 3 Feb 2014

Brought this on Amazon lightening deals mainly because it was so cheap, but didn't expect the best as it's not a well known brand. At first it's pretty alright for a 42 inch tv but it still does not compare to the decent quality of my Grandparents Sony tv, you can really see the difference. After a few months the sound completely broke on the tv so i was very disappointed. After that i realised that i could just plug my computer speaker system into it and use that for the sound almost like a surround sound and it worked fine. So other than the sound fault not bad for what i paid and it is still going a few years later:)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great TV for the price 14 Oct 2013
This is the 3rd Digihome TV I own, and they all follow the same pattern; OK picture quality, adequate sound, excellent connectivity at an outstandingly low price.

I've found that as TVs are getting ever more complex they fail (bar my ancient Panny 42" plasma) so I am happier buying bargain TVs such as this. The sound did pack up on this product after a couple of months but Amazon's excellent returns service provided a new TV and no further problems for the last 4 months.

TV is mainly used close up hooked into an Xbox for which it is perfect. No judder or ghosting and you don't notice the sound. When watching freeview the picture quality is fine, best to sit further back from the screen but the tinny sound is more obvious watching TV. When I get round to it I will hook it up to an amp to improve the sound.

Remote is fiddly, the EPG button is difficult to spot and is in a different place on all my 3 digihome remotes. That said the on screen EPG is excellent, better than the Panasonic and in a different league to the expensive Sony (which died 6 months out of warranty).

If I'm looking for other faults the TV & stand are plasticky but what do you expect for this price?

Summary - if you are looking for a top end TV and are a hi-fi nut do not get this TV. For everyone else this is a good, amazingly cheap TV with more inputs than you'll need.
