3.0 out of 5 stars Great walls of Newcastle 4 May 2013
Format:Paperback
Had been looking for an overlaid map of Newcastle city walls to see just exactly where they stood in
relation to today's streets and came across this little book.
I read the descriptive as i always do and the review and thought okay, i'll buy it.
In short it's OKAY, basic, nothing more, some nice photo's of long demolished
parts of walls but not enough info(although for those who don't know much about this subject it is a good starting point).
Roman wall and castle are included but really, more should have been said about
the medieval walls. Two nice maps but sadly, overall i'm disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book on Newcastle history 25 July 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a great book written in layman's terms. A very interesting and well thought out book which explains the archaeology of Newcastle/Gateshead and some ancient sites recently discovered. An honest and practical as well as a fascinating read. Would recommend.
