Book Description

A comprehensive and authoritative account which show how the right dietary adjustments can make a dramatic difference to many arthritis sufferers.

Product Description

Over two million people suffer from arthritis - a seriously debilitat-ing and potentially crippling illness. Now medical science has shown that a change of diet can help certain people. For some, there is a dramatic and lasting improvement in which virtually all symptoms dis-appear. Patients who were once severely disabled by arthritis have now been active and free from pain for as long as twelve years. But with so many diets on offer, which one should you try? And is diet likely to be useful for your particular form of arthritis? Should you take dietary supplements such as fish oils, calcium etc? Are they of any help? Could they cause problems? This is the only book which will answer such questions honestly and fully. Diet and Arthritis looks at different kinds of arthritis and what is known about them. It explains why some diets work for certain arthritic diseases - and why some diets are a waste of time. Authoritative and comprehensive, Diet and Arthritis will help arthritis sufferers everywhere. This book is a thorough investigation into the effects of diet on health. It has a wealth of information about the things we eat and how they effect our systems, and should be read by everyone who is interested in nutrition, not just those with arthritis. The scientific terminology may put off some potential readers, but these terms are explained and any reader could dip into the book for information that is appropriate to them using the contents page and the index. There is an excellent section at the end of the book that describes popular diets, and how some of these diets could have no possible benefit. This is a well researched book and is written in a language that anyone could understand. I am surprised that it is so cheap, and that I had never heard of it before I saw it on the shelves of the local library.
