I enjoyed reading the novel "The Hangman's Daughter" ("Die Henkerstochter" in German).
I later found out that there are two more books in the series, but so far only in German.
The first of these is "Die Henkerstochter und der schwartze Mönch".
Like the first novel it gives you an excellent picture of the life in an old town in Bavaria
and it has the same main characters as the first novel. The author is a descendant of the historical real
life Hangman and his Daughter.
I found the second book even more exciting than the first one, and it reminded me of the Da Vinci Code,
in which one clue in a mystery leads to another one etc. If you like suspense novels in a historical
setting, this is definitely for you.
