Amazon.co.uk Review

The second sequel to the mould-making action film Die Hard brings Detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) to New York City to face a better villain than in Die Hard 2. Played by Jeremy Irons, he's the brother of the Germanic terrorist-thief Alan Rickman played in the original film. But this bad guy has his sights set higher: on the Federal Reserve's cache of gold. As a distraction, he sets McClane running fool's errands all over New York--and eventually, McClane attracts an unintentional partner, a Harlem dry cleaner (Samuel L Jackson) with a chip on his shoulder. Some great action sequences, though they can't obscure the rather large plot holes in the film's final 45 minutes. --Marshall Fine

Die Hard 3 is a great film...... This 2 disc edition isn't bad....made even better by the price....

They only down side is that the UK release is cut and censored, which stands out like a sore thumb when its coming through your 5.1 dolby digital system. You can hear that they have re-recorded alternative word for all the swearing that actually takes place.

The solution is to buy the region 1 edition of this package. The price isn't too bad and the feature is uncensored and so sounds even better. The way it was meant to be!!!!

I rate this film when uncut 5 stars, but this edited version is disappointing. A full 8 minutes has been cut, including the famous elevator confrontation between our hero John McClane and 3 bad guys, as well as John's fight on the ship with the biggest and strongest antagonist! The explosions are still great but all of John's hand-to-hand close-up contact fight scenes are GONE! If you have a multi-regional DVD player or NTSC VCR then buy the U.S. version; It is still rated "R" (and 131 minutes long), not PG-13.

This is a real guy film.

Once again, Willis is back in is his role of the uncompromising, street wise, no nonsense New York cop, John McClane. But this time, McClane is partnered up with an unwitting, Samuel L Jackson. Yes, OK it is starting to smell like another Lethal Weapon movie, but wait, there’s more.

Along comes Jeremy Irons, who for me, and I am a massive Willis fan, steals the whole movie. This guy is true class. Irons plays the brother of Hans Gruber, Alan Rickmans character from the first movie, and baby Gruber is out for revenge, for the killing of his big brother, or so we are meant to believe.

I was disappointed at not seeing William Athertons Dick Thornburg character getting puched again, for me, Die Hard without ‘Thornburg’ being punched, is like McClane without a dirty vest.

The movie marries and superb twisting plot line with some incredible action scenes, and a few almost believable but equally stunning stunts. And coupled with the special effects, this makes this movie, the liveliest of the three. If they had only put the same effort into the second movie.

My only major disappointment with this (15) version, is the cutting of the elevator (lift) scene, where Willis, in the original, takes on three bad guys, resulting in true Die Hard carnage. Unfortunately this scene was so badly cut that, I think by a four year old with play scissors, that if you haven’t seen the original, you are left bemused, scratching your head, wondering what just happened.

Still it’s a great movie, and one for your Die Hard collection, until the proper version is released.

Finally an uncut version!!!
This has all the bits missing from any UK releases; scenes in the lift, on the ship, in the vault are all here. And all the swearing too. Read more

The poorest out of the first 3
As i said in the headline, i think this is worst of the first 3 films. Seems like with each sequel, they made less action scenes. Read more
