I bought Celibidache's recording of these two Bruckner symphonies with the Munich Phil after a fascinating dinner conversation with a retired cellist of the London Symphony Orchestra who had played under him. Much has been written about the interpretations so no further elaboration is needed here. What disappoints me, however, is the packaging. The two CDs come in a four-leaved card case - 5 and a half inches by 7 and three-eighths inches, too wide and too tall to fit on my CD shelves. A biography and a timeline of the conductor - in German only - are the only notes to accompany the discs. One supposes that the bargain price will entail some compromise, but not a silly-sized CD case which doesn't allow the excellent recordings to sit with others in your collection. The CD cover image for this item is misleading, and isn't an accurate representation of the correct dimensions, as the bottom has been cropped. What a shame.
