I've owned this album for about 40 years - and I'll never tire of it. The reason? It is a work of deeply felt artistic beauty. This is Stan Getz at his confident peak in terms of expression and phrasing. There is nothing esoteric here. Pop music fans can enjoy it as well as jazz musicians. The musicianship flows from the heart of a very gifted, creative soloist and the string arrangements are a perfect complement. This is soul music but not in the commonly understood sense of the word. It has feeling. Words are not necessary. I looked for this for years on CD (still kept the vinyl)and found it on a Japanese re-issue. I can't understand why this was overlooked as a domestic CD release. How old are the people working at the record companies? Fortunately, the Japanese issue many fine jazz and vocal CDs that never get issued domestically. But, you might have to settle for the vinyl because many of the Japanese releases are offered in limited quantities. Since I'm offering an opinion, I'll be opinionated, pointed, subjective (redundant too). I see many five star ratings given to music that I rate a C- or maybe even lower. But, there's no accounting for personal taste. I'm not particularly effusive when rating music. A little more sobriety and a little less emotion in the reviews could be helpful to a prospective buyer. Nevertheless, I give this one an A.
