I first heard the DJ Tiesto remix of Lost Witness, 'Did I Dream (Song to the Siren)' on the Ministry of Sound web-radio station and fell in love with it. I opened my post today and hoped I would enjoy the song as much as I had the first, and only time, I'd heard it.
Talk about falling in love all over again! Shivers would be an understatement.
The solid trance builds to a point where the ethereal vocals - somewhere between Dot Allison (One Dove), Enya and Ian Van Dahl, come into play AND then the whole song takes on a magic all of it's own. Haunting, memorable, uplifting, mesmerising and unique, it is all these things and more.
The sum of more than its parts, in an era of pre-fab trance and one hit wonders, 'Did I Dream' is more than a beautiful musical score with the hook of wonderful female vocals - combined it is almost tear inducing (and I don't cry a easily!).
Give it a chance, it deserves to be HUGE.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last, some decent trance! 15 Jun 2002
Format:Audio CD
Lost Witness first popped this out back in March 2000 on a limited 12" promo as Song to the Siren, mysteriously it disappeared, until now. With some huuuuge remixes, this track is one of the best commercial dance tunes around that simply walks over the abysmal (in my opinion) likes of Ian Van Dahl, Lasgo and all the other pop-trance acts.
Favourite mixes are the Bomb Factory mixes, and the revamped original mix. Either way, the vocals from Tracey Carmen mixed with the two Simon's talent (the production duo!) is sublimely brilliant!
And there are a couple of new remixes coming soon, just though I'd tell you.... :-)
DJ Vixen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Song to the Siren -- Redux 23 Oct 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I bought this CD not quite knowing what it was.
What it turns out to be is a re-make of "Song to
the Siren", featured on This Mortal Coil's mid-80s
proto-goth album, "It'll End in Tears".
I should note that "Song to the Siren" had been
remade in a *very* similar fashion by Vengeance
(with Clare Pearce) last year. It's quite ironic,
because after hearing the Vengeance version of
this song (and positively falling in love with it),
I thought that it was very reminiscent of the
style and sound of Lost Witness (whom I also adore).
I like Lost Witness's version of this song, however,
I do note that they fell short of singing *all* of its
lyrics. Why, I must wonder.
Still, the beat and the arrangement are beautiful,
and fans of trance will like it. And, considering that
we can't seem to find the Vengeance/Pearce version of this
song on CD single, the Lost Witness version is currently
the only way to get a dance version of it (unmixed).
5.0 out of 5 stars No you're not dreaming and it's rather excellent 9 Sep 2006

One of the best trance remixes of a classic song, and certainly one of the best releaseas from Lost Witness.

The Minimalist remix here is my favourite on the CD.

However as others have also noted, there are several producers and remixes who have put their hands on this same song with varying results, some excellent and some not up to expectations. The best version though for me remains Vengeance's which is only available on 12". Item is now hard to find, but with some luck and "deep Googling" I'm sure it is obtainable.
