2.0 out of 5 stars Too many missing definitions 1 Nov 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As per E. Woolston, there are many dead ends. For example, 'beanstalks' is defined as the plural of 'beanstalk', but 'beanstalk' is not defined at all. For me, there are too many of these dead ends, so it's not worth it in spite of the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful but flawed 1 Oct 2011

This is not up to the standard of Nicolato's excellent Italian English dictionary. Although it contains many useful translations there are many 'dead-ends' which make it frustrating to use. I mean that the dictionary will contain a conjugations of a word without containing the word itself. For example, evaluating its slang content I looked up the word Nark (indique) and actually found narking and narks with the explanation that they were the Present Participle and the 3rd person singular of 'nark' however the root word 'nark' doesn't appear. Thus the dictionary doesn't contain as many root words as you might think when seeing the number of entries since even regular words are given with their conjugations.
Ideally, it would be useful if the conjugations were translated allowing the user to see the translation in their Kindle without having to leave the book they are reading to look up the root word in the dictionary.
This isn't all gloom as it was a long shot that this rarified slang would appear and supplying the root word means I could then look it up in a paper dictionary. Also, it would perhaps be unreasonable to expect such a modestly priced book to contain as many root translations as eg. the Collins Concise (not available in Kindle version yet and likely to be far more costly).
In conclusion, this is actually well worth a purchase.
