I happened upon A Dictionary of Victorian London some years ago when I was exploring the web in search of background material for a novel. Since then I have returned again and again to Lee Jackson's vastly comprehensive web site. Mr Jackson has now selected the best bits for publication. It is full of primary resource material and is a fascinating read for anyone seeking authentic Victoriana. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive 25 Nov 2006
Format:Hardcover
Great fun even if, like me, you do not live in London. You can turn to almost any page in this book and be intantly transported back over 100 years to a time when things were very different but oddly the same. Packed with fascinating tid-bits, this book is great to dip into (in a Schott's Miscellany sort of way, but ultimately more satisfying) and includes letters to the editor of newspapers, contemporary descriptions taken from books and many other sources.
