Originally gifted to me by a young female relative who exprssed enthusiasm so I obliged by purchasing a copy for her in return. The book provides a handy reference of all the most common sayings and avoids the necessity to have to 'google' or otherwise search for meanings behind proverbs. While many proverbs are self-evident , there are others where the source is more puzzling and this volume provides a swift solution to the problem. An amusing read even as a 'coffee table' book.

I got a couple of proverb books but brought this as a present for someone who was interested in proverbs.... had a quick scan through and it was better as showed where the proverb came from which I though was a good touch.. tempted to get one myself now!

I really enjoyed reading the proverbs it took me back to when I was a child when my parents and grandparents would quote a proverb to my brother and myself.To this day they are very true. I now quote them to my Grand children! Really interesting to find out there originality
