I work in the oil industry and a great part of my working day is spent wearing steel-toe boots or steel-toe shoes. Socks are often laundered on oil-rigs in massive industrial washing machines without the benefit of a 40degreee wash and fabric conditioner.
Over the years I have tried many different types of sock, walking socks, work socks, woolen, synthetic etc etc.
These are the best that i have found, even compared to other "Dickies" work socks. So far they are lasting better then any others I have ever used.
I like the quality and comfort, they cushion my feet, don't come too far up my leg like some walking socks do, and have no lumpy seam across the toe. Although 68% polyester, they have the comfort of a cotton/woolen mix sock.
So far they have stood up to washing well, better than "cotton rich" socks that I have tried. Most recently, on a drilling-rig that managed to shrink a pair of 1-year old well-washed coveralls, my socks still feel great.
They are by no means the cheapest socks I have bought, but not the most expensive either, but definitely the best.
I recommend them.
