5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely for teens only!, 24 Sep 2009

This review is from: Diary of an (Un)teenager (Paperback)
A great little book from the publishers Barrington Stoke on their specially designed buff paper and print to help people with SLD and Irlens. Pete Johnson writes quick paced witty novels which often appeal to boys reluctant to read. Some Barrington Stokes appeal to younger readers (4U2read) but this is definitely for the older readers because of the content. It is not graphic, but it is about a young boy wandering what on earth is wrong with his friends when they start swapping War Hammer for girl friends. It is about relationships and feelings and growing up, whilst remaining very light hearted and tongue in cheek.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teenagers are people, too!, 11 Sep 2011
This review is from: Diary of an (Un)teenager (Paperback)
A boy (who sounds like a boy and not like a nostalgic adult trying to talk like a TV teen) approaches 13. He sees no reason to become someone else but his mate is trying too hard and his parents are desperately preparing to be 'parents of an impossible teenager'. Refreshingly different from "Wimpy Kid" and James Patterson's "Middle School", this is set in moderate old UK. It's short and quick and funny: a great read. Printed on cream paper [so the type doesn't glare] and set with wide margins in a well-spaced, typescript-like font, this edition is dyslexia-friendly.
Whatever your age, if you have been, are or might be a teenager, and especially if you can't really recall your teenage years, READ IT:-IT'S FUN.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teenager and dyslexic - this you must read, 31 July 2011

This review is from: Diary of an (Un)teenager (Paperback)
Barrington Stoke books are accessible to the dyslexic teenager and full of relevant titles which will interest them. This book I gave to my 12 year old dyslexic son who is a reluctant reader. He thought it was 'fab' and were there any more in the series ....
