A blog about learning to be child led in parenting, and parenting as close to nature as is possible in a very modern and Western lifestyle. We're a homebirthing, breastfeeding, sling wearing, nature loving family, but we have our foibles too. Currently pregnant with number two and our toddler is hitting the two's with enthusiasm - which makes for madness and occasionally laughter all round.

Diary of a First Child is one of those blogs that you start reading for a single article, then find another article you enjoy, and then another and another and before you know it, two hours have slipped by. I found Diary of a First Child when I became interested in cosleeping, and loved the articles on everything from sleep issues to the great question of "if baby sleeps in your bed, when (or where) do you have sex?" The topics on the blog are vast but are all natural parenting friendly: breastfeeding, babywearing, cloth diapering, and so much more.

Fascinating & engaging natural parenting blog

I've been reading Diary of a First Child since Luschka had just the first child. (She's currently on her way to #2.) I love how she combines research with her personal take on things and gives us a glimpse into her life. I like to live a little vicariously through her, because she lives internationally to me.
Favorite posts on her blog are her recurring letters to Ameli, her toddler, and her Pics of the Week, as well as her many in-depth articles, on topics ranging from breastfeeding to baby-led weaning to natural remedies to pregnancy concerns. Her homebirth story brought tears to my eyes. She also does well-thought-out product reviews and clearly takes herself seriously as a professional blogger, which is great to see.
I've had the pleasure of getting to know Luschka online through blogging carnivals and other joint endeavors, and she always comes across as real and accessible -- both knowledgable and friendly. I'm glad to have her blog in my reader!
P.S. I think it's so cool you can get blogs on Kindle now!

I started reading Diary of A First Child in late 2010. I was immediately drawn into the honesty and warmth with which is was written. Each post was carefully written from the heart. There are a wide range of natural parenting related topics and lots of great information on pregnancy and breastfeeding. The blog's author has gone through her fair share of challenges as a new mother and has openly shared them, engaging her readers in an open dialogue about the trials and tribulations of motherhood.
I cannot wait to read future posts as this family expands from three to four!
