Product Description

Synopsis

On July 25, 1995, a talented and troubled Ivy League student named Alexander Scott began writing what he called "an inquiry," a year-long diary of his visions, thoughts, and dreams. Two months after his last entry in 1996, he took his own life. Many consider his journal to be a long suicide note, but it also stands as a powerful statement about the human condition. It is a collection of poetic reflections on a world, a city, and a mind in turmoil. Diary of a Young Bipolar follows Alex's journey from the dingy streets of West Philadelphia to the banks of the Nile as he searches for meaning and grapples with the passions which threaten to destroy him. He discovers a simple truth along the way: Sometimes the world is too large and too painful, but there is a beauty in things so strong, it can save us all.

A powerful account of bipolar disorder through poetry 3 April 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
I was moved by this book. The poetry is intense, confessional, and rides the waves of the author's emotion, puts you on that ride. I recommend it.
