Review

'This hilarious book will have you laughing your head off as you learn of the misfortune of Nigel Mullet' -- Fresh Direction, May, 2010

'Teens who are fans of the Twilight saga will love this laugh-out-loud parody'
--Woman's Way, July 12, 2010

Product Description

Like Edward Cullen in "Twilight", Nigel Mullet was transformed into a vampire when he was still a teenager, and will remain this age forever. Unfortunately, Nigel became a vampire at the awkward age of fifteen, and must spend eternity coping with acne, a breaking voice, and an ineptitude with girls . . . In this, his excruciatingly funny diary, Nigel chronicles his increasingly desperate attempts to be noticed by the love of his life, Chloe Sparrow, the constant mortification caused by his vampire parents (not to mention the worry that they might accidentally eat one of his friends), and the frustration one feels when you ve got the whole of boring eternity stretching out in front of you. Fantastically witty and hugely entertaining, it will appeal to any fan of "Twilight" or "Adrian Mole", teenage or otherwise . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars A surprise hit! 27 May 2010
Format:Paperback
I bought this book for my twelve-year old niece because I thought she might find it funny... and she loved it! I have to confess I picked it up myself too, and it really is a good read. Reminded me a bit of the old Adrian Mole books, mixed with Twilight... but funnier.

It's definitely a hit, both with me and my niece - a fun gift, and a surprisingly good read!

By Mr. R. D. Turner TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Nigel is a teenage vampire, forever at secondary school but unlike the cool and attractive vampires in Twilight he is awkward and self conscious. Even more frustratingly his parents and sister have vampire strength and attractiveness and he doesn't. He longs for a girl in his class and although I won't reveal the ending as another review does the character does progress and the story has a proper ending.

The pages are written in a graphic style that appears a bit childish but the diary entries are short and succinct and keep you reading. I started the book thinking "oh dear, a copy of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾ / The Diary of a Teenage Health Freak" but actually it is better than that. It is a very fast and easy read and there are lots of subtle digs at vampire mythology.

A bit daft for adults but I enjoyed it. If I was 13 I would probably think it was brilliant!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very funny! 10 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I've been going through some of the books in the Kindle "Parodies" genre and have come across some very funny reads, this book being no exception. It is a laugh-out-loud mickey take that is suitable for children to read, although I would suspect the vampire/Twilight appreciation crowd will enjoy it so much more.

The diary aspect of it did remind of "Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾", but it was well written (in a childish way) and managed to keep me entertained throughout.

Two other laugh-out-loud books I would highly recommend in this genre are, Tony Royden's rib-aching comedy thriller The Dealer (not suitable for children) and David Thorn's The Internet is a Playground.

I will certainly be checking out other Tim Collins books (hope they are as good as this one).
