Product Description

Review

‘French and Whatley have conjured an affectionate, believable wombat self-portrait.’ New York Times Book Review

‘Bruce Whatley’s illustrations bring the story to life in a way that is both endearing and amusing. It’s easy to see why this book has won several awards in Jackie French’s native Australia. It deserves to be a huge hit here too, as it feels really fresh and original.’ Publishing News

Product Description

A baby wombat’s work is never done…

The star of the international bestseller Diary of a Wombat is back - with a new mouth to feed! Cuter, stroppier and even more determined than her mother … meet Mothball's baby.

Like any growing family, this baby wombat and her mum are finding it hard to fit into their home. When setting out to dig a new, bigger hole with room for them both, Shaggy Gully's newest resident gets some help from a friend, causes more mayhem than Mothball ever did, and sorts things out in hilarious style.

Brilliant 8 Nov 2010

This is a great story. My 6yr old son read the original in the summer and it made him howl with laughter so I had to buy the follow up. Although its a present I've had a peak and I'm expecting lots of laughter again!

I fell in love all over again 10 Feb 2012

Okay, so maybe the title is a slight exaggeration, but not too much. I was looking up the precursor (Diary of a Wombat) to order a copy for my mother so she could read it to my nephews when I stumbled across this gem. I ordered myself a copy and if the original is a hit with the boys, then she will be getting a copy for her library soon enough. I, personally, loved this one almost as much as the first and would recommend it to anyone I know. I am 27 and have both books in my personal collection...no kids, it is just for me.

Delightful 23 Sep 2011

A delightful addition to the Wombat series, a fun easy read for beginners or story tellers, easy to elaborate on the emotions of a baby wombat's days of curiousity and wonder; in a ever changing world full of discovery and challenge. Perfect for that toddler to first grader who can relate to being wide eyed and ready for adventure and learning.

entertaining book 14 Aug 2011

A very funny book, not quite as good as a Diary of a Wombat, but still excellent. My 4 year-old son really likes the book...we usually read it several times a day.
