I've always enjoyed Ms Fitzgerald's books and I have learned a lot from them. When I saw this new one, I had to have it. The shaped beads and the techniques for making them are fascinating and I enjoyed looking at the samples and trying to follow the instructions.
Sadly, this is where this could-be-wonderful book falls down. There are too many errors to be excused as just one of those unfortunate things. Yes, I know corrigenda are available from the author's web site. There are two A4 pages of corrections and Ms Fitzgerald does not seem unduly concerned about that.
The worst is yet to come: the corrections have errors, too. Enough said.

I enjoyed Diane's last book (Zulu beadwork)so decided to order a copy of Shaped Beadwork from Amazon.com as Amazon.co.uk didn't seem to have any! I was totally amazed at the amount of work Diane put into this book. It's not only fantastic, but also quite unique! The diagrams are clear, the basic geometric shapes are truly fun to stitch, I have already made myself a pair of triangular earrings and they were easy to create! I hadn't used this technique before. Peyote wasn't one of my favourite stitches but I think it might turn into it!

I too waited months for Amazon to fill this order, before I found it available in other buying options. Glad I didn't give up!
I usually only have the confidence to follow what someone else has designed. This is the first time I've opened a book and felt immediately that it was a starting point for designing my own work. The illustrations and text are very clear, and the book is organised so that you can progress through it if you choose, or dip in and out.
If you enjoy peyote, you will enjoy this book.

Shaped beadwork
Being fairly new to beadwork, I find this book very informative. Diane Fitzgerald is a master teacher and she explains in great detail how to accomplish each shape.
