Product Description

Inside Princess Diana's last portrait session. Just five months before her tragic death in August 1997, Diana Princess of Wales was photographed by Mario Testino for Vanity Fair. The book brings together the most beautiful images from this last portrait sitting, displaying Diana in a state of relaxation and intimacy unlike any other. The selection of about seventy photographs includes many unseen images which, alongside previously published images, fill in the untold story of the shoot? Also included is an interview with Mario Testino about his recollections of the sitting and as well as a contribution from Hamish Bowles, European editor-at-large of American Vogue. The book is edited by Patrick Kinmonth, long-term collaborator and friend of Testino's. It includes foreword by Meredith Etherington-Smith, who played a mayor role in arranging the sitting in 1997, and a testino interview conducted by Hamish Bowles, and contribution by Hamish Bowles. Chapters are arranged according to the various dresses worn by Diana. It includes an appendix with information detailing the dresses featured in the Work and identifying those on display at Kensington Palace. The book coincides with an exhibition at Kensington Palace, opening in November 2005.

Bittersweet Memories 18 Jan 2006
Format:Hardcover
For Diana lovers, this tome is an essential staple for your library. For others, it is a wonderful book just to peruse and capture, for a moment, the joy of a beautiful young woman gaining a new lease on life. I just received this book today, and although I own 400+ Diana books, I have never had one to actually move me to tears, as this book did. Diana looks so beautiful, vibrant, energetic, and on the cusp of an independent, happy life, as the photos in this book show. You can almost spontaneously pick up on her contentment and joy by looking at these pictures. Yet there is a bittersweet feeling that follows, knowing this zest and fire were shortly quenched after these photos were taken. The book left me with a forlorn, lost, and left-behind feeling of losing something that can never be replaced. Still, I highly recommend it.

"Natural!" 4 Jan 2006

Format:Hardcover
For we Diana admirers there are many photo books or books with her picture in but ..... these pictures show Diana the woman, not Diana the Icon or Diana the celebrity and for that reason alone this book is worthy of being in any sincere Diana admirers collection!
