Product Description

Product Description
Beatrix Campbell argues that Diana was hounded by a press that regarded her as an easy target. Her exposure of the coldness of the royal family was part of her espousal of a number of radical causes that she supported during her latter years.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a huge disappointment, 23 Sep 1999
By A Customer
I have always liked & respected Beatrix Campbell & expected this book to be an indepth analysis with a feminist perspective - well it couldn't have been further from the truth. Why oh why is Diana hailed as some feminist icon? She epitomised everything feminists have been fighting against for decades.

I found this book pure narrative (no analysis) and sycophantic. My own view is that for Charles to have wanted a divorce, things must have been abolsute hell as it is a well known fact that marriages in these circles are purely for convenience. Diana was no saint, so yes she died tragically so young but let's stop idealising her.

Sexual politics did not rock the monarchy, what rocked the monarchy was its pure outdatedness & its blatant clinging onto of protocol & tradition as well as the Windsors' clear disreagard for Diana which was manifest in the aftermath of her death.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book - well written - stating the truth, 6 May 2002
By A Customer
Congratulations to Beatrix Campbell. This biography on the late Princess of Wales tells the tragic truth. The ghastly marriage Diana found herself in with no compassion from the Windsor's.
The book is truly difficult to put down and has to be the best biography on Princess Diana.
