Product Description

Mole thinks the diamond he's found is magic. It appeared from nowhere, then it disappeared altogether. Mole is very disappointed when his friends let him in on the icy secret - that his diamond is, in fact, an icicle - until he discovers that magic can be found in all sorts of unexpected places.

A GEM of a book! 4 Feb 2008
By Mirage HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
'Sometimes magic is found in the most unexpected places...' says author Jonathan Emmett.

Large paperback with 32 high quality shiny pages in the popular 2-page spread.
Beautifully illustrated throughout, by Vanessa Cabban, and this super book is further enhanced by meaningful expressions from the various creatures and descriptive text!

Example of text:-

'....."COLD-diggerty!" gasped Mole, as he burrowed out of the ground one afternoon.
"Whatever's this?"
It was the middle of winter and the woodland was covered in a thick blanket of snow.
Mole had never seen snow before. It made the woodland look strange and beautiful.
So Mole left his hole and set off to explore.
It was SO quiet, as if everything had fallen under a magic spell.
Mole wandered on, enchanted, until suddenly......'

Later in the story, Mole is joined by his friends, Hedgehog, Squirrel and Rabbit who are concerned to know why he is sad, but are gently philosophical, too!
I wonder if you can guess what Mole finds and why he thinks it is so magical?

By ELH Browning TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
The cover of this enchanting book sparkles silvery white as a friendly mole stands in the snow. Vanessa Cabban's illustrations are soft and appealing, and the woodland story has the same feeling of glitter overlying gentle quality. Little Mole, slipping and slipping through a unfamiliar winter scene, finds a magical ice "diamond" in the snow. As he carries the wet and slippery treasure home, to his consternation the diamond disappears in his hands. With his woodland friend, he retraces his steps to the foot of the tree where he found it to see hundreds hanging from the branches. There's a moment of sadness as Mole realizes his magic diamond was just an icicle but it is short-lived. As you turn the page there's a wondrous image of the wood transformed by the ice that captures the real beauty of snow on sunny day. It's a magical moment for the child listener.

A Darling Keepsake Book 12 Dec 2006
By Wantz Upon A Time Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
When Mole emerges from his hole one day, the woodland is covered in snow. Even more marvelous is the magical "diamond" that appears at the base of a tree. It is beautiful and shiny, and it changes shape in his paws. He can't wait to show it to his friends!

Jonathon Emmett's gentle story is sure to delight young children, especially during the winter months when (if!) there is snow on the ground. Adults will be charmed by the simple fascination with one of nature's special gifts. Sweet woodland illustrations by Vanessa Cabban will further endear this book to children and "designated readers."

DIAMOND IN THE SNOW is a darling picture book that should find a cherished spot on family bookshelves everywhere.

Such an adorable story 9 Feb 2008
By K. Purrington - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This is such a great book for young children. My son loved the story and was so excited to turn the page to see what was going to happen next. He now wants to go search for his own "diamond" next time it snows!
