4.0 out of 5 stars the sound of backwards dolphins is nice 27 Dec 2003
Format:Audio CD
kieran hebden is a nice man. if he wasn't i would still say that this album is good. because it is. even though there are some pretty scary sounds in here - i am sure i heard a hamster falling down stairs - they are mostly wrapped up in melodies and lovely skittering beats. i read somewhere that kieran doesn't have days off because he likes making music so much. maybe he should have more days off because then he would have more time to question whether honky sax madness is always a good thing. because it isn't. however, i am glad that he exists because without him hamsters would get less work and would have to spend all day in their cages and that would be sad. this however is lovely!

4.0 out of 5 stars More excellent electronic music 24 Aug 2005
By N. Fisher - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Out of print, picked up this album in Toronto. If you are familiar with Four tet, or fridge, you've probably come to expect beautiful electronic arrangements and interesting drum programming. This album is more beautiful shimmering guitars, sitars and wind chimes with programmed live, yet real sounding breakbeats. The CD is worth the price simply for one or two tracks, but as a whole the CD is one of those must have CD's that could easily escape ever being heard unless re-released.

This album sounds a little less electronic and a little less involved than some other four tet releases, but the songs are still very interesting, original and well produced.

I gave it four instead of five because it is not mind blowing. However, it is of high quality, and is certainly considered an album to search for even at relatively high cost.
4.0 out of 5 stars "Dialogue" speaks to me 11 Nov 2013

Jazzy, atmospheric trip-hop without pretense. "Dialogue" is smart, rich and full of interesting beats, sounds and engaging textures. Most certainly a top-drawer effort.
3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 tet 28 Oct 2009
By IRate - Published on Amazon.com

3 1/2

Still finding his electronic footing with this pre-millenium debut, Dialogue nonetheless sees a sure start for the laptop samauri, if not providing fully-fleshed compositions than still certainly giving out the distinct and consistent vibe of being on the cusp of something new and fresh.
4.0 out of 5 stars Mood dependant 28 July 2006

Much like the exchange sessions, very jazzy, great when one is in the mood for it.
