My Bible,

This review is from: Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes (Hardcover)
This book is a huge challenge for any therapist mainly due to the sheer volume of knowledge contained within. I have 12 years clinical experience in physiotherapy and usually just tackle it a few pages at a time or one dysfunction at a time. I met the Author a few years ago and her ethos fits so well with proactive preventative medecine that she is a breath of fresh air. Her physio tools computer package option is a must if you like the book as it makes prescribing exercise easier for ther therapist to instruct and the client to learn. The only shortfall is the quality of photographic images in the book: some fail to show the more subtle nuances of postural shifts etc. I would highly recommend this approach to musculoskeletal treatment. I have prevented a fair few (seemingly necessary) surgeries thanks to this approach.

Tap into a lifetimes knowledge of movement dysfunction,

This review is from: Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes (Hardcover)
This book is a must read for every one who deals with musculoskeletal dysfunction, especially those who treat symptoms because they do not know the underlying cause. Of course not everything can be put down to movement impairment but a read of this book will put you in the mindset of considering the "whole" picture, and make you feel guilty for sending patients away after six sessions of electrotherapy.Shirley Sahrmann should be commended for this refreshing text with my only complaint that she didnt do it a long time ago. If she did maybe physiotherapy would be a more respected profession.

excellent book for yoga and Pilates teachers,
By Skye (London, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes (Hardcover)
The book is excellent in that it addresses so many different postural and movement tendencies. At last, there is adequate discussion of lumbar flexion syndrome and swayback posture. So many other sources and teachers confuse swayback posture with lumbar lordosis, teacher training courses should list this book under 'Essential Reading'. (A paperback version would be useful).
