4.0 out of 5 stars Advanced Dungeons and Diablo, 13 Oct 2000
By A Customer
First I should mention, the name "Diablo II: The Awakening" is a red herring, because the book is not based on the second, but mainly on the first computer game. Only the classes and the monsters are from D2. The book is devided in several parts, each dealing with a different aspect of the computer game. It contains information about using the classes known from D2 and how to use them together with 'conventional' AD&D classes. It also supplies the reader with a list of all the important monsters and how to create magic items randomly. The book also contains a list of new, useful spells and information as well about Tristram and its inhabitants, as about the history of the conflict between good and evil. Finally, an adventure is added: Diablo! All in all this book is a good supply for all those people who want to include the world of Diablo in their campaign. I'm looking forward to the Diablo supply for D&D 3E...

4.0 out of 5 stars A very mixed bag, 14 Feb 2001

(REAL NAME)
The two crucial elements of this are the magic item tables and the new monsters - they are worth the price alone and are by far and away the best part of the module. The rest, well... Diablo is D&D in it's purest form, and constitutes many peoples idea of the generic dungeon. For that reason, the adventure at the end is largely superfluous. The classes, too are not really all that necessary - but again I have to point out - I cannot recommend the treasure generator too highly. The monsters too are a welcome addition to any campaign and provide a shot in the arm for any ailing DM.
