"Once in Mumbai, Mr. A finds his match in Sunehri [Aishwarya Rai], a petty yet clever thief. She makes him an offer he finds very hard to refuse. A partnership! Aryan accepts. And so the game begins, a game of cat and mouse, a game of good v/s bad. The cops -- Jai, Shonali and Ali -- are after the robbers -- Aryan and Sunehri. From the deserts of Namibia to the backwaters of Goa, the mean streets of Mumbai and the ancient forts of Rajasthan and finally to Rio, Brazil. DHOOM 2 is modeled on the lines of the chor-police sagas that Hindi films specialized in the 1970s and 1980s. In essence, it's not a path-breaking/inventive story, but what takes the film to dizzy heights is the sequence of events that unravel at a feverish pace. Right from the start of the film [Hrithik's first heist in Namibia; the robbing of a crown from a moving train] to his next target [robbing a precious diamond from a museum in Mumbai] to the theft in Jamnagar [Hrithik and Ash come face to face for the first time], the film whets your appetite from the word 'Go'. In the first hour focuses on the cat-n-mouse game, the second hour changes tracks as it transforms into a love story. While the scenes between Uday and Bipasha [in a dual role] are cute, the ones between Hrithik and Ash build up slowly. The pace drops intermittently in this hour since the thrills are reserved for the penultimate reel, but a number of worthy sequences in this half conceal this tiny blemish. Note the turning point in the tale -- the revolver sequence between Hrithik and Ash and the lip-to-lip kiss that ensues; it's an outstanding sequence from the writing, execution and performance point of view. The pre-climax -- the robbery of man-made gold coins -- as also the climax chase are breath-taking as well. DHOOM 2 is director Sanjay Gadhvi's finest effort so far. The execution of the subject is such, you just can't help get transported to a world of make-believe. Gadhvi has handled a number of sequences with aplomb. The Hrithik-Ash sequence mentioned above is one of them. The dialogue between Hrithik and Abhishek -- after they've known each other's true identities -- is another. The final scene of the enterprise [it would be unfair to reveal it here!] is yet another sequence that indicates that the director has done his homework well. Pritam's music is fair. Barring the 'Krazy Kiya Re' track and the title track [filmed on Hrithik], the score is outright mediocre. However, the saving grace is the vibrant and energetic picturization, which takes the songs to another level. The choreography of the title track by Shiamak Davar is outstanding. Vaibhavi Merchant's choreography of 'Krazy Kiya Re' is admirable as well. Salim-Sulaiman's background score is highly effective." --platform47.com

Enjoy the party! 11 May 2010
By Sarah
Format:DVD
The first time you watch this film, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. Alright, so it's fun cop romp with great production values. On locations and props, no expense spared. The stars have never looked more gorgeous (although I think the costume designer had something against Ash- how did she walk in those shoes, let alone steal anything?), the songs are catchy and the dancing unbeatable. As ever, Hrithik steals every scene he's in and the chemistry between him and Ash is palpable. Happily this version actually employed a professional on the subtitles, unlike the rental version I saw where the English subtitles didn't make sense, even when the cast are speaking English!

But don't expect the plot to make sense. Why are they jumping off a cliff at 6am? Who knows? Who cares when they look so beautiful doing it? And don't expect Oscar-winning acting. Only Hrithik impresses, with the remainder of the cast mainly settling for just looking glamorous. Boy, are they glamorous!

Then, against your better judgement, you'll sneak a second viewing - the jaw-dropping stunts or Hrithik's green eyes or the fantastic dancing will lure you back. And this film just gets more and more fun, the more you watch it. I don't even know why. But believe me, if you want a good time, kick back, turn off the brain and enjoy the party! What a party!

This set has both Dhoom 1 and Dhoom 2. From the reviews we werent expecting much from Dhoom 1 but actually found it quite watchable.
Dhoom 2 is definitely the reason to buy the set though (and it's nice to know what happened in Dhoom 1 first- though not essential).
It is an action movie of the Mission Impossible type. Greta action and stunts, not really that much violence. It is more about stunts and cleverness.
Hriuthik is just riveting to watch. He is gorgeous, acts well and his dancing is superb. He really gets a chance to strut his stuff. So does Ash who does a very different modern dance for her and brings it off well. Abhishek has poorer material to work with than in Dhoom 1 - particularly in relation to his screen wife. However he does bring more maturity to his acting in some of what he is given and rises to the occasion. Uday Chopra is very good as the comic sidekick too.
The dances are very MTV and the music contemporary and upbeat. There are some catchy ones that stay with you if you like this movie style.
This is a guilty pleasure movie - unlikely but thoroughly entertaining.
I have retruned to watch the song and dance sequences several times.
It has romance and Hrithik and Ash do that well. But I have a Sri Lankan female friend who just likes the Bollywood romances and disliked this one as having too much action for her.
In our case we were a 28 and 56 mother and daughter watching it together and both of us really enjoyed it. Dhoom 1 is more about boys and motorbikes. Now I thought this would be ho-hum but actually it was quite watchable. John Abraham can appear a bit one-dimensional - though admired as a hunk (and probably a nice guy from what you read about him). He played the part with aplom though. Abhishek and Uday did well with their parts too.
I'm glad I did buy the 2-disk set rather than just get the more recommended Dhoom 1

Watch it for Hrithik 20 Mar 2007
By Griffin
Format:DVD
There's only one reason to watch this film and that's for Hrithik Roshan.

Luckily for him, the script writers made his character interesting and engaging, which is a shame for the other characters, as they were overshadowed by his performance. Abhishek Bachchan's role was fantastic in the first film, however, his role was limited in Dhoom 2, which was a shame as Abhishek sometimes comes out with great comedic performances, which Dhoom 2 didn't allow him to do. Bipasha's double role in the film was confusing and didn't add anything to it.

The songs are ok and there's the eye-candy, provided by Hrithik Rosan, Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu, which will entice some people. Its a good film to watch if you have time to waste. But well done to Hrithik: he's quickly becoming one of the industry's best actors.
