Book Description

Why does a ghost want to play cards? Why does a tattoo attack its human canvas? Why do green children vanish - with a trace?
If the questions are strange, the answers are even stranger.

This selection of 7 unsettling short stories by Carole Thorpe explores loopholes in time and human nature. If you like to be entertained, intrigued - and maybe a little disturbed - these tales are for you.

Dezzz's Dragon......

They appeared in the Olde Town, the four of them, not the horsemen of the apocolypse. They would have liked that, would have liked bringing pestilence, famine, war and death. A good night out would have left The Olde Town a smoking ruin with corpses hanging from every window of the 16thcentury houses.
With the powers of the original four, they could have produced the carnage they played at on their games consoles. But, being mortal and puny, and the sight of real blood making at least one of them faint, all they came into with town were their ASBOs.
Their ASBOs, their diplomas proving that society feared them, that they were something to be reckoned with....weren't they? Blaze, Saber, Edge, and Dezzz. Little Dezzz, whose violent and anti-social inclinations were exhibited only by that third z. It made his name end in an aggressive hiss, he thought, like the serpent from Mars in his favourite computer game. Little Dezzz, the follower, anybody's disciple, who'd found it very difficult to get his ASBO, only clinching it when he threw one of his trainers at a passing car......Their ASBOs, their diplomas proving that society feared them, that they were something to be reckoned with....weren't they?
