5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent easy to use machine, great design, nice coffee, 12 Sep 2007
By James O'Toole (UK) - See all my reviews

To get an espresso with a good even crema, warm the machine up first (including the coffee holder) by putting some boiling water through. Add finely ground coffee, tamping it down well. Fill the machine with more boiling water than you actually need, before squeezing a small amount through. If you only use a small amount of water the machine doesn't develop enough pressure for a proper espresso.

5.0 out of 5 stars I carry this in my luggage, 20 April 2007
By SARAH MCCARTNEY (London, England, UK.) - See all my reviews

Everyone who's had a cup of my Presso coffee has wanted one of these machines. (I wonder if Kitchen and Home fan below works for a rival manufacturer?). When I visit my mum in Newcastle I pack it in my suitcase. I've had it for over two years and have used it at least once a day. I keep my beans in the freezer (brought them back from Venezuela) and grind them to the finest point on the Dualit machine, and I get an expresso as good as anyone's. Plus the only energy used is a tiny bit to heat the water; the rest is arm power. No silly plastic pots of coffee to go into landfill. This is an eco-coffee fan's delight.
Discontinued? I do hope not!

2.0 out of 5 stars looks better than it works, 18 Dec 2003
By A Customer
i purchased one of these espresso makers a few weeks ago thinking that if it actually did make a decent cup of espresso it would be a steal for the price. good espresso machines usually cost at least twice as much. well i was sadly dissapointed by the presso expresso. it makes a bitter cup of espresso with little or no creama at all. i went through a half a pound of coffee just trying to get an average cup of espresso. the stuff that came out of the machine was undrinkable. the only reason i gave it two is because the espresso it does put out tastes okay if you add a good amount of steamed milk to it. the reason this machine doesn't work is because it doesn't reach the pressure needed to seperate the oil from the beans. i e-mailed the presso expresso manufacturer for some help and they admitted it could only produce pressure in the 7-8 bar range. well you need at least 9 bar pressure. i don't think it really produced even 7 bar pressure however. so needless to day i returned this good looking piece of machinery. save your money and buy a stovetop espresso maker or better yet spend more money and get a pump machine.
