Dewalt Alligator Saw,
This review is from: Dewalt DW390 230V Alligator Saw (DIY & Tools)
A great tool for trimming sawn timber such as fence posts etc,not as quick as a chain saw but far neater cut.I would not recommend using for fine work on par timber.I trimmed the top off 200 6x4 fence posts to lazer level in a morning, imagine using a hand saw, this saw was bought for this job and it was perfect. A great tool for the pro's arsenal.

Great saw!,
This review is from: Dewalt DW390 230V Alligator Saw (DIY & Tools)
I bought this saw initially for cutting a fallen tree into logs and have to say that I'm very pleased with it. It may not have the speed of a chainsaw, but it feels safe, solid and steady when used with appropriate care. If you're thinking of buying one to cut WOOD, PLEASE READ THIS: the DW390 saw comes with a saw blade for cellular concrete (NOT wood) and the instructions say use model 391 for wood - so I called DeWalt's technical dept and they said they don't sell the 391 in the UK, but that the 390 can be used for wood with the right blades - DT2960 HSS saw blade for plasterboard/dry logs and DT2961 saw blade for hardwood/softwood/plywood. I bought the DT2961 blades separately and it worked brilliantly to cut up the whole tree including a 10-inch trunk with ease. You have to oil the blades every 15-30 minutes of use and DeWalt's technical dept recommended using 3-in-1 Oil (available from most hardware stores) for this.

DeWalt Alligator Saw,
This review is from: Dewalt DW390 230V Alligator Saw (DIY & Tools)
Hi all, i wanted something to take the strain of sawing logs and posts, but did'nt want the associated problems that go with a chain saw.Delivery was speedy, item arrived safe and sound, and was well packaged. On first inspection the saw dos'nt seem to have the quality that you would expect with a DeWalt item. However, on first use i was impressed with its cutting ability on both rough sawn timbers, and on some felled tree trunks that required logging. The saw felt smooth in action, took longer to do the job than a chain saw would of, but most of all it felt safe and steady to use. Hav'nt had cause to use the concrete block blade that came with it, but i imagine it will be of use in the future. All in all i am very pleased with this item, and glad i bought it, just wish i'd bought one ages ago.
