5.0 out of 5 stars For the love of God.........BUY THIS CD! 11 April 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I have had the pleasure of experiencing Avishai Cohen live in concert with Chic Corea twice. After listening to his first release "Adama" non-stop for six months, I am happy to report that "Devotion" is another great album. He has already developed his own style and is experementing with new things, including using a Wa-Wa pedal, which I think blends very well into the mix of instruments. Even if you aren't into the whole "middle eastern" genre, this entire album is very much a Jazz album. I recommend picking up a copy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Favorite of My Collection 15 Aug 2000
By "coeurdor" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Since hearing Cohen's first disc "Adama", I have been a fan. His arrangements are wonderful, full of grace as well as life. His bass solos are some of the most interesting jazz instrumental solos I have had the pleasure of listening to. I recently saw Cohen in concert where he performed from his new cd "Colors". From what I heard, I recommend it as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums I have ever bought 14 Dec 1999
By Christopher LeFevre - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is one of the greatest albums that I have ever had the pleasure to own. There are not many albums that can make you a better musician just by listening to them but this is one of them. I bought this CD and a week later went out and bought his first album Adama, which is almost equally as good. As soon as I finished listening to Devotion I immediately went to my upright bass and began trying to learn the songs. My hats goes off to Avishai, he is certainly one of the best bass player/writers to grace music since guys like Mingus and Jaco.
5.0 out of 5 stars Avishai's best album 27 May 2006
By Eric Booth - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I haven't heard Continuo, yet (I'm waiting to see it in the mailbox anyday)...but this is Avishai's best album, in my opinion. Each one of these songs is unique and solid. The varying tempos in songs such as Ti da Doo Di Da keeps the listener endlessly entertained and on the edge of their seat. My feet just can't stop moving when listening to this album. Avishai is truly a modern jazz genius!

It's too bad that Amazon only has the import version. I got mine for $15 at a record store. Hopefully you can as well.
