This book is part of a series which will eventually cover every county in Britain. If they are all as good as this it will be a great resource. Michael Dacre has collected stories from every corner of Devon, taking us right back in time to Brutus' arrival in Totnes fresh from the Trojan War, to the spooky horrors that await modern drivers on some of Devon's remote back roads. A quirky humour shines through, and the illustrations (uncredited, but by Wendy Dacre), which are luminous, lovely and mysterious, add to the magic of the tales. A good read which would make an interesting guide book on a tour round this lovely county.
