Firstly i suffer from poor wifi reception through living in an old terrace house and have only ever had very low or just plain low reception at the rear of it !About a year ago i bought a Sitecom wireless extender from Maplins but over the last year i have spent an eternity trying to configure it and getting nowhere! That was £30+ wasted so when i saw this product i wanted so much to try it but maplins had reduced it to £70 but i was worried it too was going to be another waste of money!SOO i trawled the net and with about a fiver in postage i got it here for about £57! ALL YOU DO is plug it in your main PC or spare ethernet socket on your router ,then go to where you have no reception ,plug the other unit in a wall socket and plug the cable from it in to your SAY laptop! PERFECT-no software to clutter up your hard-drive,not even any instructions to fry your brain!I now have EXACTLY the same internet speed downstairs as i had upstairs on the main PC!BUY BUY BUY !!!,THIS PRODUCT IS IDIOT PROOF AND IT WORKS!!!And your fusebox is the best firewall you can construct!

Just plugged into socket downstairs and one into an extension upstairs and although the advice is to avoid xtensions the device works perfect. dont forget though you initially need two and would advice to buy the starter kit which if you work it out is substantially cheaper to buy two adapters rather than buy two individual adater.

After suffering constant slow download speeds (only getting 1.2Mb on an 8Mb DSL connection), I decided to try an alternative way of connecting to my router. I switched off the WiFi and connected a Homeplug Duo kit. I now get download speeds of between 5Mb and 6Mb - a huge improvement. Obviously, the very thick stone walls in my house were having more of a detrimental effect than I realised.

The only criticism I have is that the installation Wizard on the CD only works with Windows. As a Linux user, I found that the instructions were less than straightforward. However, once I figured it out, the system works perfectly.
