I live in a house that is largely brick and concrete - the most wifi unfriendly material. My home office is in the basement, home also to my cable modem and router. I wanted to have my network extend to other parts of the house, mainly the living room for a wired connection to the Xbox and TV.
I had tried wireless with a repeater in the past with limited success, but I wanted something with a bit better throughput and stability so I looked around and decided to go with the Devolo mini 500s. They are compact enough to keep my wife happy (does not like to see any more devices) and the setup was as simple as they described.
1) plugged in AV500 units to wall sockets in office and living room
2) plugged cat5 cables in to router(Netgear) and Xbox 360
3) loaded "dlan cockpit" software on my PC for some visibility.
All worked perfectly from the first moment. The cockpit software found every device without issue and I was able to get online with my xbox and tv instantly. Playing online games and streaming music and video from my PC to the living room worked flawlessly and I am very pleased with this product.
