Book Description

Super sleuth Sister Fidelma returns in a brand-new historical mystery by Peter Tremayne, acclaimed author of Atonement of Blood, The Seventh Trumpet and many more.

Ireland, AD 671. When a curious deputation of religieux arrive in Cashel, death follows close behind. Sister Fidelma and her companion, Eadulf, seem unable to stem the bloodshed.

Is one of the deputation responsible? What was the Venerable Verax, the scholar from Rome, hiding? Was there an evil secret behind the austere Bishop Arwald? Indeed, what was the real reason behind Eadulf's brother Egric's unexpected appearance at Cashel - could he be the culprit?

Victims and suspects combine to make a tangled skein of mystery more complex and bloody than Fidelma and Eadulf have ever faced.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Devil's Seal (sister Fidelma 25) 24 July 2014

This is a story a long lost brother set with joy at the rediscovery. Sister Fidelma and her husband are brought into another murder mystery. It is full of twisted and turns that reintroduce old friends and the same argument do they follow the lead of Rome or continue to follow their present path. A complex path full of details that I enjoyed

A long awaited book, a little slow in places, but full of twists and turns in others, as enjoyable as usual I didn't work out who this was and had to wait till the reveal at the end.

I have read all the Sister Fidelma books. As an historian whose main interest is early medieval Ireland, I enjoy them immensely.

Great stuff. Excitement from start to finish, T has got his formula absolutely spot on. This book did not disappoint one bit and had me gripped throughout. Well researched, contrived and written. Thoroughly recommended. I cannot wait for the next one and the next.

Once more we are transported to seventh century Ireland and gripped by an intriguing plot, slowly unravelled by Sister Fidelma and Eadulf. Once started this compelling story could not be put down. The reader simply has to finish the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please write more! 29 July 2014

Another series my mother absolutely loves. Can't get enough of these. More murder mystery solved by the now ex-nun lawyer in medieval Ireland. Well written, and you never know where the case will take you. She's enjoyed the whole series!

Good read. Always detailed stories from this author which has made some hard going but less so in this case as it was a much less predictable story.
