Synopsis
The follow-up to his 2003 horror hit HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, Rob Zombie's THE DEVIL'S REJECTS continues the story of a bizarre group of very odd people who like to torture, maim, and kill virtually everyone they come in contact with. When Sheriff Wydell (William Forsythe) pays a visit to the body-ridden lair of Mother Firefly (Leslie Easterbrook, taking over the role played by Karen Black in the first film), her children Otis (Bill Moseley) and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) are forced to run, eventually holing up in a roadside motel with four hostages (including Clint Eastwood regular Geoffrey Lewis and THREE'S COMPANY star Priscilla Barnes). Seeking help from creepy clown Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), they continue their murderous rampage while being tracked by Wydell, who is hellbent on avenging the death of his brother, which came at the hands of this very weird and dangerous family. As Wydell tortures Mother Firefly for answers, Otis and Baby torture their hostages for kicks. Zombie, a heavy metal musician who leads the group White Zombie, infuses his exciting, funny, and terrifying gorefest with a fabulous 1970s soundtrack, using such songs as Elvin Bishop's 'Fooled Around And Fell In Love' and David Essex's 'Rock On' at inappropriately riotous moments. Part BONNIE AND CLYDE, part THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, part THE WILD BUNCH, Zombie's bloody barrage is filled with unexpected plot twists and surprises unique to this genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars In a word: WOW, 17 Jan 2008

Is Rob Zombie a totally insane, sick and sadistic piece of scum? Or is he just one of the best directors in all of film history? This is the question he wanted his audiences to bring up while writing this total head-smasher of blood, sex, violence, power and insaneness! The answer is: it's up to you.

The plot has been explained several times in previous reviews, but essentially: A family of murderous crackpots go on the run from cops who are equally - if not more - insane. If you're a horror fan, that may sound bloody perfect. No. It wont be anything like what you're expecting.

What is this film's genre exactly? Horror? Western? Thriller? Action? Chase movie? B movie? Slaughterhouse flick? I'd say a mix of all of 'em! After watching this movie, I had to lye down on my bed with the lights off for about half an hour! I think it says somewhere on the blurb about the film leading to a great final showdown... wrong! The entire film seems like a showdown!

Some of the scenes in this are enough to make even the most hard core horror fans squirm in their seats. What happens isn't actually as bad as some other horrors, it's just the way it's done that makes it so much more terrifying- another of Zombie's subtle tricks. All this leads to one of the greatest climaxes of all time- the perfect, immensely powerful ending.

Yes. This is the most terrifying film I have ever seen, only just pushing 'Inland Empire' out of the way. Basically, this film is a complete experience. One to watch with a few friends, so they can pump some mental stability back into you at the end!

5.0 out of 5 stars Possible the best film of the year!, 4 Dec 2005
this is one of the best sequals of all time! not only does it equal rob zombies first film house of a 1000 corpse's but surpass'es it in every way possible. this film grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go till the end credits, however this film might not be to every one's taste but if you like your films with vilolence, gore, bad language and lots of dark humor than this is your film. picking up about four months after the fisrt film house of a 1000 corpse's, the film follows the exploits of the firefly family, after a fantastic shoot out a the start of the film 'Rob Zombie' takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride. the film focus's on the characters Otis, Baby and everyones favorite Captain Spaudlin (played brilliantly by Sid Haig), unlike the first film the script is alot sharper the acting is fantastic. what this film manages to do so well is to gain the audiences sympathy for the firefly family that was never felt for in the first movie, this film is about the role reversal that the family take from been the inflicters of pain to the recivers of it from sheriff wydell, avenging his brothers death from the first film. with both their paths heading for a collision course that ends in one of the most depraved and terrifying shodowns ever committed to a feature film.

So go and buy or rent this film, because as mentioned the acting is great the script is tight and sharp and another great advantage this film has got is that Rob Zombie didn't use any heavy metal for the music instead using some classic 70's music that fits the film so well, including one of the best endings a film has ever had.

for any one who thinks their hard enough this film will creep you out especially the motel sceen half way through the film. enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good sequel., 19 Sep 2006
By Blue hunter (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
This was a good film to me,it won't appeal to a lot of people but if you are a fan of this type of film then it's worth
watching. It is the sequel to house of 1000 corpses which in my opinion didn't have as good a storyline as it just focused on how mad and psychotic the main charactors were. This film does have a storyline as the main cop in it is out for revenge on these people. At first he tries to do it the good cop way but then takes a more hands on approach.
The main charactors are back from the first film, still as mad and as bad as before, but there is some comedy moments from the charactor captain spaulding(not sure if he is ment to be funny but i find him very funny).Overall a good sequel but not for everyone, probably only people who like this genre of film.
