Oh dear 4 Jan 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
As someone who enjoys both Scottish historical romance and regency period romance, I unfortunately have to advise readers not to bother with the above book.
The story is silly, twee and confused offering little to enjoy and devour for either of the genres. For Scottish historical consider Monica McCarty books and for regency try Julia Quinn.
If you do enjoy paper thin plots, poor characters and the worst faux old English dialogue... then this book is for you.

A Fun Historical Romance 26 Aug 2010
By Melissa Books and Things - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book is a fun historical romance. Light and fun and full of roguish romance. It starts out in the typical way. Man steals woman to make another suffer, man finds woman surprisingly attractive, woman finds man surprisingly attractive, both find themselves in each others arms and win over the bad man she was about to be married. Now, yes, I did just basically tell you the story, but that formula is as old as perhaps the castle under contention. :) What I liked about this story is that the woman has her own mind and finds strength within her capture. Even though she does rely on Jamie's physical prowess to keep her safe, her wits and inner strength keep her up to the challenge of a bunch of burly men and the highland wilderness. Yes, I liked Emma. She was a good match for Jamie. You don't always find that within these types of stories. I also loved Jamie although there were times I could hit him over the head for being so stubborn.

All in all I give this book 4 stars. It's a fun, light historical romance. If you love a roguish man in a kilt, sexy time in an abandoned church you will enjoy this book.

Yes! I couldn't put this book down 5 Sep 2010
By J. Kollasch - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Lately it seems like the authors I usually read have been writing a lot of contemporary romances but Teresa Medeiros has taken me back with another fantastic historical romance. Ending what seemed to be an endless dry spell of crappy books I can gladly say that this is a fun read that you won't want to put down.

As the oldest daughter of a poor Baron Emmaline Marlowe is set to sacrifice herself as the bride of the elderly Earl of Hepburn in order to restore the funds that she feels she has cost her family. Resigned to her fate she is ready to say her vows when Jamie Sinclair, the dangerous and dashing enemy of the Earl kidnaps her on her wedding day. Hoping to use her to trade back to the Earl for something that will help Jamie solve the murder of his parents he plans to stay detached from her as much as possible. Thinking Emma to be some boring English girl he is unprepared for the fiery temperament she exhibits and she uses this to her advantage. What Emma didn't expect was to fall for the roughly handsome Jamie-he is vastly different from her previous love interests.

From start to finish I liked the characters of Emma and Jamie. Emma was willing to do anything out of loyalty for her family and Jamie was the same way with his clan. Interesting subplots kept me reading page after page and you couldn't help but fall in love with Jamie's wild ways. Wanting to find out who and what murdered Jamie's parents also made it so that I wasn't able to go to sleep until I finished the book. This book was like a ray of sunshine in the crap I've read this summer so I have a new restored hope for romance novels in the future. An easy read with likable characters will make this an easy add to your reading list.

A great Romance 26 Aug 2010
By DK's Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The Devil Wears PlaidI really enjoyed this book. I have read many romance books with a similar story line but this is wonderfully written with great details and magnificent characters that you just fall in love with. I do have to admit that I fall for this kind of story line every time and never tire of it. I feel that Teresa is a great writer and this story just comes together so good and is such a great romance. I spent a couple days reading this book as I was so busy with the kids and I found that I just really didn't want to put this book down. I fell in love with the strength and beauty of the main characters and that is one of the most important things for me. I love getting lost in a great romance novel and forgetting about all the worries of the day. If you are looking for a great romance you should read this one.
