5.0 out of 5 stars Contemporary, fresh, and sophisticated take on the gothic romance 25 Sep 2009
By A. Mode - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Great book! I especially loved the set-up with the falls, the treacherous pathway, the mysterious and brooding hero. The setting and pacing reminded me of the gothic romances that I used to pilfer from my mom growing up (Phyllis Whitney and Barbara Michaels) but with a fresh and contemporary slant.

Also, I love that the hero, Damien, is talented and sophisticated yet still masculine. Too many romances these days have Alpha/thug heroes. Damien is a breath of fresh air. The great chemistry between hero and heroine makes for a satisfying blend of hot scenes and sweet, emotional journeys for both characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice debut 4 Sep 2009
By Christopher Chardon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is the first book by author Angelle Trieste, and I thought it was a great beach-book debut. How often do you have a cello player as a protagonist? Or an albino doberman as a minor character? Trieste definitely has a fertile imagination, and I look forward to seeing more of her work.

So, the story: Victoria and Damien seem like they're completely mismatched from the start, but as you read through the novel they become drawn together. Damien is hiding something, and believe me when I say that the revelation at the end of the book comes as a complete surprise! I totally did not see it coming! Anyway, once you know what that is all the other stuff that came before suddenly makes sense. Recommended for anyone who likes a good romance, a brooding hero and hot love scenes.
