5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!, 30 Jun 2006
By J. Marshall - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Devil Is Alive & Well & in D.C. (Audio CD)
Anybody remember John Squire's post-Stone Roses Britpop outfit The Seahorses? Thought not. The Yards are fronted by former Seahorses singer Chris Helme, and are the stylistic opposite of his former chart-brushing band.

'The Devil ..' is a ballsy, hundred-mile-an-hour sprint through the musical territory of bands like The Doors and, more recently, Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. The anti-Bush rhetoric may be a touch obvious, but as it's buried amongst some cataclysmic rock 'n' roll riffage, we'll let them off. High temperature, high-tempo stuff - it'll leave you hot and sweaty and eager for more. They are an inventive, poetic and blistering live performing rock band. The first (title) track is the full throttle Velvet Underground blast with the punk energy of The Stooges with Jimi Hendrix inspired garege guitars. And other songs are Nick Drake-esque melancholic balad, Buffalo Springfield (or Ryan Adams) style of roots rock. Very Highly Recommended!
........CD contains 6 songs>>>>>>>>>>>Not enough, in my opinion!
