Book Description

Tobias is a skilled Dom and Noah is a man in need of just that. He wants to sub badly, but has yet to find someone he believes in. Through a series of encounters in the world of bondage and discipline, we learn why Noah has trouble trusting, and why Tobias is reluctant to let himself love. Still, Tobias can't resist Noah's charms, and the two of them set about making a scene for themselves, one that works for them and their unique set of problems. But can they stay together in a world where learning to love means accepting all of their dark secrets?!

    5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put It Down! 26 May 2011
    By Imani
    Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I don't quite know how to place this book. I read it in a few hours because it was difficult to put down. Where to begin...

Okay, we have Tobias, a well-respected and well sought after Dom (he's also a Vet - not Vietnam - an animal doctor) who, due to a emotionally painful experience with his last Sub, isn't really looking for another relationship but, it is his 41st birthday and, not having attended the exclusive BDSM club he belongs to for three years, he decides to celebrate with, perhaps, a little 'play'. Bradford, the club's owner, sees that he's coming and sets him up with Noah, a Police Patrolman, and a Sub, who has spent two years looking for the right Dom to fulfill his needs, and to whom he can trust, someone he can hand control over to completely. Tobias takes Noah to one of the upstairs rooms to play, only to find that he (Tobias) is blown away by Noah's natural and honest submissive nature. Although Tobias is reluctant to take on a new Sub, he gives Noah his pager number and they agree to meet once more, where Tobias pushes Noah even further and realises he wants to know more about this 'boy'. Eventually, they agree a contract and Noah is Tobias's exclusive weekend sub. And so the journey begins...

There are so many things to love about this book. I am not into BDSM (am I?). I don't really know much about the scene. What I have read has usually been about forced submission, apart from Maya Banks's Sweet Surrender and Laura Dane's Laid Bare - but this is so well written and so lovingly put together that I couldn't do anything but fall in love with both the main characters.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down 15 Oct. 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Tobias is a Dom looking to celebrate his birthday with some play at his favourite BDSM club. He hasn't visited for 3 years, after an emotionally painful breakup with his previous sub. The owner, a good friend, sets him up with Noah, a sub who has been looking for a suitable Dom for 2 years. They immediately hit it off (no pun intended) and their relationship begins.

I found this a bit difficult to review only because I kept wanting to digress into the psychology of the Dom/sub relationship, and its relationship to 'real' life - or, more accurately, 'public' life: in this case, Noah's life as a police patrolman. How did his struggle with submission to Tobias affect his work life? How did he manage to keep the emotional parts of his two lives separate? And so on. As mentioned by another reviewer, I would like to have known more of Noah's private thoughts.

Having said that, it's a really interesting and romantic story and I really wanted their relationship to work. Tobias was so responsible and took his 'training' role so seriously, was an excellent Dom, which is why he was considered the best and most desirable Dom at his club. He and Noah fit so well together and they both learn and grow from the relationship: it's not a story with a series of sex scenes, it's about a journey that changes two damaged people, with the possibility of happiness.

It's not all intense and serious: the whole dynamic was fascinating and the sex scenes were really hot - caring and loving (whips and chains or not) and really, just - hot! I loved the chaos and gossip Tobias's appearance caused every time he went to the club (the 'pup' Brian was so funny), and the close relationships all the characters had.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read 17 Oct. 2014

I loved books 1 to 3 in this series. Out of all the BDSM novels I've read, this series had the most strict D/S relationship. Tobias takes on Noah as a sub after seeing Noah needs something, he's adrift and needs grounding and issues dealt with. Tobias is a sucker for a sub in need and something about Noah entrances him. Noah is not a sweet yes sir sub all the time. During the day he's a police officer and he has to work to weigh up his responsible professional life against his need to give up control in his private life.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the start of their relationship and all the details of Noah's training. Tobias is not a know it all dom and goes to his friend Bradford when he needs to who then uses his dom nature to help Tobias.
It's not all cut and dry D/S split between Noah and Tobias and that does not detract from the power exchange you can feel. Tobias is strong enough to admit that sometimes he needs to swap.
The walking to heel training was painful, hands over nipples to protect myself while reading that, I was in awe of Noah's courage jumping in a contract with the infamous Tobias, and watching him flourish was beautiful.
The pride Tobias felt when Noah achieved a task or overcame an obstacle was fantastic, you really understand what he as a dom gets out of training a sub and the descriptions of Noah's feelings explains what he gets out of it.
They are a great fun couple and their rough and tumble and often funny role playing games were hot, sexy and great to read.
