One of the best baby massage books,

Before I got this book, I had trouble figuring out the best way to massage ma favourite baby. The photographs are extremely helpful and the techniques have been thoroughly researched.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in massaging babies.

The importance of communication,

Peter Walker's book is an excellent manual and introduction to developmental baby massage. I imagine it will be useful to both mothers (and fathers) and also professionals, like nurses, midwives and health visitors. It is beautifully produced, spiral bound and with laminated pages. It is easy to follow. He covers the usual subjects - like how massage helps deal with such issues as colic and wind and lack of sleep. He emphasises the way in which working with the baby will help that baby throughout its childhood and maybe into adulthood: he continually stresses the importance of posture and stretching.
What I really liked, was the way he shows how important 'touch' is, and how baby massage should help in the development of all aspects of a baby-mother relationship. It struck me that this technique would be good for those mothers who were having difficulty 'bonding' or relating to their newborns. As well as helping their baby in a physical way, the massage would help them get 'close' to their newborn. Dr Bob Mullan
